Come and experience the relaxing nature of Reiki in the Forest of Dean and enjoy a feeling of wellbeing
EDIT 2020: All Reiki sessions are now remote, rather than in-person.
Reiki is a form of hands on healing, developed in Japan by Mikao Usui in the early 1920s. Usui taught this system of reiki to more than 2000 people in his lifetime. There are many variations of reiki and I use the traditional Usui Shiki Ryoyo form. Reiki can be used alongside other conventional or complementary treatments and often helps provide emotional support during recovery. I find Reiki works particularly well with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).
During the treatment you relax either lying down on the couch, or sitting in a chair fully clothed. I then gently place my hands on various non-intrusive positions on the body, hold of them there for a few moments before moving on to the next position. The treatment lasts around 45 minutes.
Receiving a reiki treatment is very relaxing for most people. And yes it’s OK if you fall asleep during a treatment. I’m used to it! Other people go into a peaceful meditative state where they gain a more balanced perspective on things in their lives that are causing distress.
Reiki is hitting the mainstream, with several celebrities saying they use reiki to help reduce stress. Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie are said to be fans of Reiki healing. While ex-Coronation Street and Emmerdale actress, Gaynor Kay Faye, offers reiki to friends and family.
